Ajwain Seeds

– Ajwain is an aromatic annual plant from the family Apiaceae, native to the Eastern Mediterranean.
– Seeds are an important ingredient in Middle-Eastern cuisine, added to bhajia, pakora, and samosa recipes. It is one of the most highly cultivated spices in India and Iran.
– The spice has a good nutritional value, it is high in protein and fibre and vitamins and minerals. Containing traces of carotene, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, calcium, phosphorus and iron.
– Ajowan Seeds contain a high amount of thymol, a well-known anti-bacterial compound, giving them a thyme-like aroma.
– Ajwain is said to support the digestive system and used to aid indigestion, flatulence, and nausea.
– The plant has many other reported benefits including aphrodisiac properties and is even said to be an instant hiccup cure but there is no scientific evidence to support these claims.
